Mark and I build into the lives of our student leaders, and they in turn, can build into the lives of their fellow students. A great example of this was my girls’ Bible study. After several years of leading a small discipleship group, I challenged my girls to lead a Bible Study of their own. Skylar was highly motivated to get the group going. Monica has the most Scripture knowledge, so I asked to be in charge of the content and make sure the lessons and discussions stay on track. Bri and Lindsey are “includers” and they made sure that everyone was doing okay and feeling cared for. One of them suggested a rule that all the girls accepted: “What is said in the group, stays in the group.”
The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
2 Timothy 2:2
I was hopeful, and a little skeptical at the same time. Would this group be successful? I was so glad that I entrusted this responsibility to these girls. Not only has the group grown, but the leaders have flourished. I hear reports of lively discussions and topics being discussed that they might not discuss in front of me. Join me in praising God for our student leaders and what God is doing through them.
