We asked David Gibson how Jesus got a hold of his life.

These are his own words:

I was a young man living for the world. I was looking for gratification from the world in track and field. I felt as if I was defined by track and field and how well I performed. With that being said, God was my lucky rabbit’s foot. I was wanting God to provide for me on the track as long as I was a “good” person on the day of the meet.

This mindset left a big void in my heart that I had no idea how to fill. I thought that void would be filled by a bigger win, or breaking a record on the track,  things like that. Come to find out through a lot of injuries and poor performances on the track that success wasn’t going to fill that void. My life changed the day I learned that Christ wanted to have a personal relationship with me. I didn’t have that relationship with Christ till I pursued him whole heartedly. I accepted Christ while reading “A Young Man After Gods Own Heart” from then on out I was not defined by my actions, my worth was already proven by Christ.

God comforted me when I thought I was alone in this world. God never left me even though I thought the world was going to be gratifying. God has guided my path over these past 2 years. With him at the head of my life I found myself in Belgium this summer with Athletes in Action’s competitive team. I tell people all the time I was not suppose to be in Belgium, but I thank God I am who God wanted me to be and not who I thought I would be. Athletically the Belgium trip inspired me to keep chasing after my dream of competing professionally in track and field. Spiritually the Belgium trip brought me a new family in Christ, the people I went on the trip with have a special place in my heart forever.

A few words from Mark:
Since David has one semester left to finish his degree, he has been able to join with me several times a week on many evangelistic appointments with current athletes here at Xavier. Join me in praising God for His work in David’s life, and how He is using David to lead students into His Kingdom.  You are a part of David’s story too. Thank you for being a part of our ministry. We cannot do this without you.
